Lavender is a traditional cottage garden plant. Some dwarf forms of lavender reach only abour 10 inches, but others may reach 3 feet in hight. The flowers are tiny and have a beautiful purple color.

Its dried flowers and seeds are often used in potpourri or herbal sleep pillows for soothing and calming. Lavender oil applied at the temples also relieves headache.

Fresh lavender flowers can be used to flavor syrup for jellies, fruit salad and milk and cream for deserts.
