The largest continent on Earth, occupying one third of the entire area of the planet. Some of its mountains are the highest of the world. It is also formed by hundreds of islands. From 1936 to 1991 the ex-USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics), consisted of 15 republics and occupied the north half of Asia and part of eastern Europe. These 15 republics were later divided in separate countries, some are located in Europe and the others in Asia. They are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus (EU), Estonia (EU), Georgia, Latvia (EU), Lithuania (EU), Kazakh, Kirghiz, Moldavia, Russia, Tadzhik, Turkmen, Ukrainia (EU), and Uzbek.

Some of the other countries of Asia are: Afghanistan, China, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Tibet, Turkey and Japan among others.

The smallest of one of the former republics that formed the ex-USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, country which from 1936 to 1991 consisted of 15 republics). Armenia borders Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Iran. The capital is Yerevan.

Third largest country on Earth. It is bounded by North Korea, Russia, Mongolia, Kazakh, Kirghiz, Tadzhik, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Butan, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam, and by the Yellow Sea, The East China Sea and the South China Sea. The capital is Pekim.

India, officially Republic of India (Hindi Bharat), is a country in southern Asia, located on the subcontinent of India. It is bounded on the north by Afghanistan, China, Nepal, and Bhutan; on the east by Bangladesh, Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), and the Bay of Bengal; on the south by the Palk Strait and the Gulf of Mannar (which separates it from Sri Lanka) and the Indian Ocean; and on the west by the Arabian Sea and Pakistan. Country in the south-west of Asia, located in the oriental part of the Mediterranean Sea. Borders Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. Jerusalem is the city the Israeli Parliament proclaimed as its capital, however, the United Nations does not recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and most countries still maintain their embassies in Tel Aviv.

 MALAYSIA

Malaysia, located in Southeast Asia on the South China Sea, is divided into two regions, known as West Malaysia and East Malaysia. West Malaysia, also known as Peninsular Malaysia, consists of the southern portion of the Malay Peninsula and nearby islands. Thailand borders West Malaysia on the north, and Singapore lies off the southern coastal tip. East Malaysia occupies the northern section of Borneo Island, as well as offshore islands. East Malaysia shares Borneo with Brunei, which lies on a small section of the northern coast, and with the Kalimantan region of Indonesia, which lies to the south. Malaysia is a federation of 13 states and 3 federal territories. The city of Kuala Lumpur, coextensive with the federal territory of the same name, is the capital and largest city. Located near Kuala Lumpur is the administrative center of the federal government, Putrajaya, which also makes up a federal territory.

Republic in Southeast Asia, bounded on the west by Bangladesh, on the northwest by India's Assam State, on the northeast by China's Yunnan Province, on the east by Laos and Thailand, and on the southwest by the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal. It was known as Burma until 1989, the English version of the country's name was changed by the military government that took over in 1988. Yangon (formerly known as Rangoon) is its capital.

Country located off the South tip of the Malay Peninsula. Singapore comprises one main island and 50 adjacent islands. The major island is separated from Malaysia on the north by the narrow Johor Strait. It is bounded by the South China Sea. Singapore is its capital.

Thailand, officially the Kingdom of Thailand (Prathet Thai, or “Land of the Free”), is located in Southeast Asia. It is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been occupied by any European or other foreign power, except in war. The country was known as Siam until 1939 (when it was renamed Thailand), and again for a few years in the late 1940s. In 1949 the name Thailand was adopted again. Bangkok is Thailand’s capital and largest city.

Country in southeastern Europe (where the smallest part of the country is located) and southwestern Asia. It is bordered on the northwest by Bulgaria and Greece, on the north by the Black Sea, on the northeast by Georgia and Armenia, on the east by Iran, on the south by Iraq, Syria and the Mediterranean Sea, and on the west by the Aegean Sea. Ankara is its capital.
